Art and Fashion at 5 Pointz

Hey guys! I am so excited about this post! I recently had the opportunity to shoot at 5 Pointz in Queens. It’s an awesome space where graffiti artists display their work. How amazing in this incredible street art? I was blown away by the talent displayed at 5 Pointz! Read more about 5 Pointz HERE.

For my shoot I chose a funky, urban inspired Fall look. Yes, it’s finally cool in NYC!! Thank God! Leopard was the theme for the day, and I took advantage of the crisp weather to break out my leopard calf hair boots and bag. The hot pink coat was the finishing touch- I have been WAITING to wear this coat all Summer! Details on what I am wearing, and where to buy them are below. 😉

Bright Snow Shiny Day! (And winner of Asos coat giveaway announced!)

Hello from snow buried NYC!!! As most of the world knows, NYC, and the surrounding areas of New England were covered in a blanket of snow this weekend. (The timing of “Nemo” hitting us at the start of Fashion Week was definitely NOT ideal!) But, I can’t say it’s not beautiful! Me, being the stubborn fashionista that I am, insisted on wearing my tall wedge Steve Madden boots despite the thick ice and snow. You should have seen the look on my boyfriend’s face when I emerged from the bedroom in these! We had a meeting in our neighborhood, so I figured walking a few blocks to brunch in these babies wouldn’t be bad. After all…..there is rubber on the bottom! Boy, was I wrong! All I can say is thank God for railings,parked cars, and my boyfriend to hold on to! LOL Since it was so cold, I opted to put a warm fur vest over my wool Mackage coat. I love layering vests over coats to give them a fresh look. I also love the look of fur over coats, and this is a great way to get that look without spending a ton of money. It’s also a good way to wear old coats, and make them look new again! The vest was an ebay find btw. 😉 Lastly, I wore bright blue cobalt to brighten up the black, and as you know from THIS POST, I love neon brights in Winter! How are you dressing for the storm? Anyway, this has been an exciting weekend so far. My boyfriend, an up and coming actor and comedian, (and a pretty good blog photographer if I do say so myself), appeared on national television yesterday, and had host Vinnie Politan laughing in stitches on HLN’S Making it in America. The Fashion Minx and The Sequin Cinderella in NYC!!!

So excited to finally meet Nicola in person!!!

I was lucky enough to meet and work with the fabulous, and well known Irish blogger Nicola from The Sequin Cinderella! This was Nicola’s first trip to NYC, and she loved it! For our shoot, we chose Times Square, the heart of NYC as our location. We chose to wear skirts and dresses mixed with boots which give off a tough/feminine look- which is perfect for this city. We hit Sephora, walked around Times Square, and had fun with some police officers! Of course, we also talked shopping, finding deals in the city, and ways to protect yourself from the harsh NYC winter temps while still showcasing your style! It was a very cold night, which called for a lot of layering! I am a huge fan of fur vests because you can layer them under, or above a coat or jacket! (That night I did both) I wore my blue feather vest from Topshop. I love the texture of it, and it’s super warm! There are tons of adorable fur vests out there, both real and faux. I also love THIS ONE, THIS ONE, and THIS ONE. Nicola wore a gorgeous lace dress from Zara with studded boots by Chiara Ferragni. I love the look of a feminine lace dress mixed with tough biker style boots. Similar dresses HERE, and HERE. Also, I love these studded boots by ASH. I went with a cobalt blue theme, wearing my blue Celine (similar bag HERE) , blue J Crew top, and my blue bubble necklace. Oh….and my cobalt blue YSL ARTY RING. White Fall Dress….two ways

We are experiencing an unusual heat wave in NYC lately. (By heat wave, I mean 50 degrees in November!) I bought this gorgeous beaded white dress from Zara, and I was planning on rocking it for Fall with thick tights. This pleasant weather,however, allowed me to wear the dress bare legged with my Rag & Bone boots. I couldn’t decide what coat to wear with it, so I decided to try out two different looks. First, I paired the dress with this incredible leopard coat I got from Nordstrom! What a great buy! It’s waterproof and super warm! A leopard coat is a staple every girl should have in her closet, and at this price, it’s worth it! Second, I tried it on with the sweater I bought at the Margiella for H&M preview I attended two weeks ago. (I love how designers are making their lines more affordable for the general public by doing collaborations!) I love the look of white on white as well. What was that rule about white after Labor Day? Yea….right…..so 10 years ago! LOL BTW, I am loving my Pamela Love medium tribal spike necklace! (Last seen HERE). It’s bold, unique, and makes any outfit more special!

Urban Jungle

I paired two of Fall’s biggest trends for a fresh look: metallics and burgundy. I found this awesome metallic skirt at Minusey for a great price. I think the skirt adds a great pop of color in this dark, dismal Fall weather! My burgundy quilted Balenciaga jacket is still my favorite Fall piece, and the color is just amazing. Autumn Afternoon in the Concrete Jungle

Hello, and happy Fall!! I had the opportunity to shoot with the amazing Katharine Andriotis again recently, and we decided to go to the Union Square farmers market. I don’t know about you, but the moment Fall arrives, all I can think about is pumpkins, hot apple cider, and the crisp Fall air! The Farmer’s market in Union Square was buzzing with energy. The fresh organic fruits and veggies were incredible, and I really love the spirit of the Autumn season. Orange is my favorite Fall color, so I was really happy to receive this beautiful clutch courtesy of Asos, and my amazing friend Meg at RS. This Levi’s denim jacket is perfect for this weather, and you can literally throw it over everything. And, I am still wearing my Rag & Bone Newbury boots everywhere! They are insanely comfortable! The outfit I wore is a perfect example of mixing high end items, with very low end items. (I think my skirt and top were $15 dollars from Forever 21! See links below for details!) I also love adding bright touches of color to a dark outfit, as I did here, with the neon turquoise belt, and bright orange clutch against dark navy and black. It’s a great way to wear bright colors in the Fall! My amazing boyfriend Chris came along for the shoot, and to pick some fresh veggies with me. 😉 How are you celebrating Fall?

Red and black

I love colored jeans! One of the things I am looking forward to this Fall is being able to rock the trend of bright colored, printed, and textured jeans! My love of interesting jeans actually dates back to my childhood. I remember when I was about 11 years old, my older cousins would come visit me, and they were all wearing jeans with either designs, painted pictures, or cool embroidery on them. I was so jealous! As I got older, the idea of “printed jeans” wasn’t really in style anymore…….so plain jeans it was for me. 🙁 But now that the trend is back, and improved in my opinion, I am all over it! It’s an easy way to elevate your outfit, and update your look! We saw this trend being worn earlier this Spring and Summer, in the form of neon jeans, and tons of jeans with either flowers or warm weather designs on them. But, for this Fall, the trend is jeans in more jewel toned colors, jeans with deep embroidery, (think your grandma’s drapes), and of course, jeans printed with tons of patterns. ( I recently scored a bunch of awesome jeans at Zara, stay tuned for future blog posts with those) But yesterday, I kept it simple with my new favorite bright red jeans, on sale from SHOPBOP! (Buy them HERE!!! ….and similar red jeans HERE, and HERE) I kept the rest of my outfit black to offset the red. My Celine Nano is my favorite cross body bag. It’s great when you are on the go! (Similar cross body bags HERE, and HERE) Oh, and my Rag & Bone Newbury boots are the best investment purchase I ever made! Seriously, they are the most comfortable ankle boots on the planet! Brooklyn Wedding

My boyfriend Chris and I went to a beautiful wedding in Brooklyn this past Saturday. It was chic and edgy, with wine, cupcakes and dancing at this awesome bar with outdoor space. I wore an adorable navy dress that I scored for $24.99 from Forever 21 (similar here, or here) , and paired it with my Balenciaga Blue Lavande clutch (similar look here or here) . I love mixing high and low end items. It’s a great way to elevate your look and save money! My bangle is Hermes, (some more cool bangles here) and my ring is YSL. Spike bracelet is CC Skye. CURRENTLY CRAVING: ARM CANDY

For those who know me, they know that I love nothing more then “arm candy”. I love bracelets. I love stacking bracelets. I love stacking bracelets on top of bracelets……….You get the idea. 😉 There is no better way to dress up your look then to pile on some gorgeous accessories on your wrists. And nowadays, the more the better! Is there an art to “stacking”? Um, I think so. I think you need to find that delicate balance between chic and overkill. Personally I always pair some chain and spike bracelets with my watch. Other times, I wear a large cuff, and balance it out with delicate strand bracelets to offset it. It’s up to you. The thing I love about stacking bracelets is that you can totally make the look your own, and it’s a great way to update some old bracelets that you have had in your drawer for a while. You can pair them with some new acquisitions and freshen up the look. For this post, I have listed some of the bracelets that I am currently CRAVING! All of these are great for layering and stacking. 1) Deepa Gurnani double spike cuff. Buy it HERE. .I love this cuff! It’s rock and roll, but glamorous at the same time. I love the way the crystals offset the tough spikes. Girly and tough at the same time. Added bonus, it’s double strands start you off nicely to layer with other bracelets!

2) CC Skye Love Spike Bracelet. Buy it HERE. This is the the PUNK version of the Cartier love bracelet. It’s chic, with an edge……my favorite. CC Skye is one of my favorite jewelry brands. The quality is AMAZING, and lasts forever. Definitely worth the investment. This piece is screaming to get layered. I own this gem….stay tuned for future posts with me styling it. 😉

3) Marc by Marc Jacobs Small Rose Gold Katie Turnlock Bracelet. Buy it HERE. I love these turnlock bracelets! Such a classic design…..and the adorable turnlock closure is the perfect accent. I own this rose gold version. I am a huge fan of rose gold because I believe it goes so easily with both white and yellow gold. You can layer this bracelet with anything! It comes in two sizes. 4)Pave Pyramid Bangles. Buy them HERE. What do I love most about these gorgeous, sparkly, tri-color bangles? Is it the amazing price, or the fact that you get (3) bangles in the perfect colors all ready for stacking? Hmmm I think both! 😉 Fabulous price and incredible style? This is a no brainer!

5)Balenciaga Arena Giant Rose Gold bracelet. Buy it HERE. It’s no secret by now that I am a huge Balenciaga fan. Their leather is amazing, and I love the hardware on their bags and bracelets. This Balenciaga cuff is a little slice of heaven. It’s edgy and chic. It’s great for layering, or wearing on it’s own and making a statement. I love this white leather cuff with rose gold hardware for Summer. It’s bright and stands out.

6) Fenton Crystal Sagamore Deco Chain bracelet. Buy it HERE. What I love most about this breathtaking crystal bracelet is that it looks like it’s an estate piece. I can imagine buying something like this in a vintage store, or at an estate sale. It’s just so elegant. You can wear this to a black tie affair with a lovely gown, or you can dress this down and wear it with a t-shirt and jeans. (my favorite look). Either way it’s a steal, because it’s ON SALE!! Grab it while you can! I picked one up for myself!

7)Powder Blue Multi pop bracelet. Buy it HERE. I love powder blue, and when it’s paired against black, it just makes it POP more. I adore this crystal bracelet, and again, it’s great for layering. Great price too!

8) Charles Albert Large Titanium Quartz cuff. Buy it HERE. Now this is a statement! I have been lusting after this cuff for a long time. I am blown away by the colors of that quartz stone set against the shiny metal of the cuff. You can definitely wear this one alone. No need for stacking here.

9) House of Harlow 1960 Open Weave Horn Cuff with Labradorite Stone. Buy it HERE. House of Harlow never fails to impress. This unique design caught my eye right away. It reminds me of something that would be worn in the middle ages. I would definitely layer this with some spiky bracelets to complete the look. Good price too. 😉
