Colorful Leather Jackets For Fall

Colorful leather jackets for Fall

I am sure everyone is being bombarded with gorgeous chic black leather jacket options for Fall, so I decided to showcase a fun, and bright alternative.  Ditch your regular black leather jacket for some color!  Just because the weather is getting cold and dark, doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to match! Spice things up with a splash of color, and beat the coming Winter blues!

Here are some of my current favorites! All links to jackets are below!!

XOXOXO
Julie

WALKING DEAD DOLLAnd I’m glad to see that Sci-Fi dating has finally embraced same sex relationships!

2013 was the year that I attended my very first Comic Con.  I had heard about it for years, and knew it was a really cool event, but I never really had reason to attend until this year. Why this year? Well 2013 was the 20th anniversary of The X-Files, a show that changed my life in the 90s, ignited my obsession with Mulder and Scully, and made me “want to believe”. It still remains one of the most brilliant, and groundbreaking shows of Television history.  I am still in awe that I got the chance to meet both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in person, and got to thank them for their creativity and entertainment.  They were both extremely sweet, friendly, and warm. To be honest, I think the real “X-File” is how they look more amazing now then they did 20 years ago!  (The cigarette smoking man may have something to do with this) 😉

Comic Con in general was a ton of fun.  It’s sort of like Halloween, except everyone is a super hero, or comic book character.  My boyfriend Chris and I had a blast walking around and seeing everything.  I hope you enjoy the photos! I wore bright colored sunglasses, and an embellished clutch for the day.  It seemed fitting.  Maybe next year I’ll go in costume. 😉

Let me know in the comments if you have ever attended a Comic Con!

Hey guys!  I am so excited about this post!  I recently had the opportunity to shoot at 5 Pointz in Queens.  It’s an awesome space where graffiti artists display their work. How amazing in this incredible street art? I was blown away by the talent displayed at 5 Pointz! Read more about 5 Pointz HERE.

For my shoot I chose a funky, urban inspired Fall look. Yes, it’s finally cool in NYC!! Thank God! Leopard was the theme for the day, and I took advantage of the crisp weather to break out my leopard calf hair boots and bag.  The hot pink coat was the finishing touch- I have been WAITING to wear this coat all Summer! Details on what I am wearing, and where to buy them are below. 😉

But, first- here is a video I made showcasing the artists’ work, and what I wore.  Enjoy!

Currently Craving- Backpacks (Not just for school anymore)

Not just for school anymore.........

Not just for school anymore………

I have to admit- I’ve been kinda obsessed with backpacks lately.  It’s a style of bag that I literally have not worn since high school.  Even in college, (hello Fordham University!), I wore messenger bags, and large handbags.  Never backpacks. Never.  Backpacks were for kids.  At least that is how I felt at the time.

Fast forward to 2013, and all you see lately are designer backpacks. There are backpacks with wild prints, backpacks with studs, backpacks with fringe, and even backpacks with other accents that definitely set this generation of backpacks apart from the plain, nylon bags we wore in our teen years. The choices are endless.

What does it all mean? Well, for one it means I think it’s time for me to break my ban on backpacks, and maybe try out this style again- as an adult.  And second, it means I am going to have a hard time deciding which awesome backpack to try out.  And, so will you.  But you are in luck, here I have compiled my list of the hottest, chicest, and most sophisticated backpacks I could find.  Click the name of the bag below to see where to buy them! And tell me in the comments if you will try out this style!  I know I will! 😉

FIRST ROW- Left to right

1) Stela 9 Shiva Backpack– I love the bohemian vibe!
2) Cambridge 13″ Tartan Satchel Backpack– Adorable backpack version of the famous Cambridge satchel!
3) Oliveve Dottie Convertible Backpack– Love the embossed leather, and tassels! So chic!
4) One by Bed Stu Shiloh Leather Backpack- Love the rich, chocolate leather and pocket details!

SECOND ROW- Left to right

1) Jericho Backpack– I am really in love with the distressing, pocket detailing, and beautiful blue color of this backpack!  It comes in other colors too! Check it out!
2) Cleobella Gita Backpack– Who doesn’t love fringe?  This bag is chic enough to wear day or night- and especially to a concert or festival! This bag screams Summer! Love!
3) Rebecca Minkoff Logan Backpack– I have to admit I have been obsessing over this one for months.  I couldn’t decide between black, or this almond color- but I think this buttery brown leather has won me over!
4) New Look Leopard Backpack- Well, for fans of my blog, it’s no secret I LOVE leopard! So, when I found this ultra chic, roomy leopard backpack for under $40, I jumped on it! It’s the perfect dash of animal print, in an easy to carry style.  What’s not to love! GREAT PRICE TOO!

Julie zara pantsJulie zara pants body shotThe weather in NYC has been unseasonably warm, which is pleasant to walk around it,  but scary at the same time for those of us worried about global warming. (like me) Nevertheless….it’s a great excuse to wear my favorite burgundy Balenciaga leather jacket. Similar HERE and HERE.  Pants are Zara. I love the leopard print on them. Get similar looks HERE and HERE. I have been wearing my Pamela Love Tribal necklace almost every day since I got it.(See post HERE)   It’s the perfect statement necklace, and it’s earthy and organic at the same time…..just my style. 😉 Check out Pamela Love’s other designs HERE.

P.S. Isn’t it strange how much it’s raining lately? During Winter? Shouldn’t it be snowing? Sigh….

What are you favorite looks this Winter?

White Fall Dress….two ways

White Fall Dress White Fall DressWhite Fall DressWhite Fall DressWhite Fall Dress White Fall DressWhite Fall Dress We are experiencing an unusual heat wave in NYC lately.  (By heat wave, I mean 50 degrees in November!) I bought this gorgeous beaded white dress from Zara, and I was planning on rocking it for Fall with thick tights. This pleasant weather, however, allowed me to wear the dress bare legged with my Rag & Bone boots. I couldn’t decide what coat to wear with it, so I decided to try out two different looks. First, I paired the dress with this incredible leopard coat I got from Nordstrom! What a great buy! It’s waterproof and super warm!  A leopard coat is a staple every girl should have in her closet, and at this price, it’s worth it!  Second, I tried it on with the sweater I bought at the Margiella for H&M preview I attended two weeks ago. (I love how designers are making their lines more affordable for the general public by doing collaborations!)  I love the look of white on white as well. What was that rule about white after Labor Day? Yea….right…..so 10 years ago! LOL  BTW, I am loving my Pamela Love medium tribal spike necklace! (Last seen HERE). It’s bold, unique, and makes any outfit more special!

I paired two of Fall’s biggest trends for a fresh look: metallics and burgundy.  I found this awesome metallic skirt at Minusey for a great price.  I think the skirt adds a great pop of color in this dark, dismal Fall weather!  My burgundy quilted Balenciaga jacket is still my favorite Fall piece, and the color is just amazing.  I shot these photos in Astoria where I live……LOVE this city!  All photos by the amazing Katharine Andriotis. Hello, and happy Fall!! I had the opportunity to shoot with the amazing Katharine Andriotis again recently, and we decided to go to the Union Square farmers market. I don’t know about you, but the moment Fall arrives, all I can think about is pumpkins, hot apple cider, and the crisp Fall air!  The Farmer’s market in Union Square was buzzing with energy.  The fresh organic fruits and veggies were incredible, and I really love the spirit of the Autumn season.  Orange is my favorite Fall color, so I was really happy to receive this beautiful clutch courtesy of Asos, and my amazing friend Meg at RS. This Levi’s denim jacket is perfect for this weather, and you can literally throw it over everything. And, I am still wearing my Rag & Bone Newbury boots everywhere! They are insanely comfortable!  The outfit I wore is a perfect example of mixing high end items, with very low end items.     (I think my skirt and top were $15 dollars from Forever 21! See links below for details!)  I also love adding bright touches of color to a dark outfit, as I did here, with the neon turquoise belt, and bright orange clutch against dark navy and black. It’s a great way to wear bright colors in the Fall! My amazing boyfriend Chris came along for the shoot, and to pick some fresh veggies with me. 😉  How are you celebrating Fall?

xoxo

Barney’s Christian Louboutin window display with pumps underwater, and fish swimming around them.  I LOVE IT!!!

Here are some quick shots as I was running around the city today. 😉 Stopped by Barneys to see what was out for Fall, and also wanted to check out their new windows….THEY ARE GORGEOUS. I also met up with my friends Debbie and Sheree.  Burgundy is a HUGE color this season, so I was happy to finally be able to wear my burgundy Balenciaga quilted jacket.  (This was another huge investment buy.) When I saw the color I had to get it! I am actually seeing this color EVERYWHERE now. I will be doing a blog post soon on the best deals this season on bags, shoes, jackets and clothing in this deep rich color. Stay tuned for that! 😉 xoxo Julie

Red and black

I love colored jeans!  One of the things I am looking forward to this Fall is being able to rock the trend of bright colored, printed, and textured jeans! My love of interesting jeans actually dates back to my childhood.  I remember when I was about 11 years old, my older cousins would come visit me, and they were all wearing jeans with either designs, painted pictures, or cool embroidery on them.  I was so jealous! As I got older, the idea of “printed jeans” wasn’t really in style anymore…….so plain jeans it was for me. 🙁  But now that the trend is back, and improved in my opinion, I am all over it!  It’s an easy way to elevate your outfit, and update your look!  We saw this trend being worn earlier this Spring and Summer, in the form of neon jeans, and tons of jeans with either flowers or warm weather designs on them.  But, for this Fall, the trend is jeans in more jewel toned colors, jeans with deep embroidery, (think your grandma’s drapes), and of course, jeans printed with tons of patterns. ( I recently scored a bunch of awesome jeans at Zara, stay tuned for future blog posts with those)  But yesterday, I kept it simple with my new favorite bright red jeans, on sale from SHOPBOP!  (Buy them HERE!!! ….and similar red jeans HERE, and HERE)  I kept the rest of my outfit black to offset the red.  My Celine Nano is my favorite cross body bag.  It’s great when you are on the go! (Similar cross body bags HERE, and HERE)  Oh, and my Rag & Bone Newbury boots are the best investment purchase I ever made! Seriously, they are the most comfortable ankle boots on the planet! Just read the reviews HERE to see that I  am not kidding!  What are you most looking forward to this Fall?

xoxo
